Snowmobile Club News
updated February 10, 2021 The Club President, Brian Moriarty, received a call from the MTFCA about our recent post that the club insurance would not cover us for a meet with the Covid-19 pandemic ongoing. He told them that we would update the post on the club website. |
||
__________________________________________________
We have received word from
the MTFCA that Club Insurance is available if club members would like to host a meet. The criteria to have a meet is as follows; All State and
local Covid-19 guidelines must be followed. Face covering and distancing must be adhered
to if required by guidelines. In northern New England persons traveling to a different
state cannot spend an overnight unless quarantined prior to and after returning. |

Snowmobile Club News
Updated January 16, 2021 There will be no club-sponsored meets for 2021, as the Model T Ford Club of America will not insure any group event for 2021 at the present time. Members at their discretion can feel free to take rides in their Snowmobile. There will be no dues for 2021. Those that have paid dues for 2020 will be covered for their 2021 membership. Club expenses are very low so theyre is not a need for dues at this time. Most of the club dues go to the expense of running meets, as no meets are planned until winter 2022 there are very low expenses. People wishing to join the Model T Ford Snowmobile Club can join by using the Membership Form on this website. The Club's "Snowmobile 'T'imes" newsletter planned for winter 2020 will now be sent in the December 2021 time frame when hopefully the pandemic should be mostly over. |

On the good news front (and we certainly can use some).

Look for Model T Ford
Snowmobiles on the cover of the JanuaryFebruary 2021
issue of the MTFCA's Vintage Ford. The front and back cover photo will be from a photograph that was taken at the 2019 Forestport, NY National Meet. |
||

Also look for a planned article in the November-December 2021 issue of the MTFCA's Vintage Ford on the 2020 Forestport, NY National Meet along with another cover photo.
__________________________________________________
It probably doesn't matter
much to anybody other than those who prepare meet notices, update the website, prepare
flyers, etc., but now the number of the National Meet will line up with the year from now
on. The 22nd Annual meet will now be in 2022. |
||

The Model T Ford
Snowmobile website Gallery for the "Forestport 2019
National Meet" has had over 7,500 views since being
posted in January 2020, a few weeks before the 2020 National Meet. This does not include the count of the views of the individual images in the Gallery, only the count of times the Gallery was accessed. The individual image count is a number that would be much much higher. It could be the fact that Hemmings Motor News had an article about the meet by David Conwill helped considerably. Truly amazing! There is a link to the galleries on the Home page as well as below. Snowmobile Meets Photo Galleries |

Overview The 2020 Model T Ford Snowmobile Club annual meet will be held in Forestport, NY for the second year in a row from Friday January 31st through Sunday February 2nd, 2020. For a second year we have been welcomed back to the Trackside Blazers clubhouse in Forestport, NY for our annual snowmobile meet. I would like to encourage and THANK YOU for considering bringing a machine to the meet. This club wouldnt be in existence without you as a member. Without your willingness to bring your machines out every winter the club wouldnt be able to promote and share the history of these unique vehicles. Greg Stewart sent out some information prior to the meet so that (hopefully) things will run smoothly throughout the entire weekend in Forestport. For those who attended last year, most of this information will sound familiar. Of course if you have any questions at all, please call/email/text me using the contact information at the end of this message. Greg Stewart and Lorena Schwarz are presently working to assemble a newsletter for 2019. We will have the registration form for the 2020 annual meet within the newsletter along with much of the following information, The registration form is also included on the website for your convenience. The Trackside Blazers are working with the local NYS Police and Sheriffs office to increase patrols of the area for the weekend. Remember that we are on private property but keep your own security in mind when you are shutting things down at the end of each day. Lunch Available The Trackside Blazers will have lunch available to us for purchase on Saturday. Please show your support to them, as they are a non-profit club trying to survive just like we are. Appreciation The Trackside Blazers are excited to host us and our event once again! But please remember that we are their guests. I would like for each of us to show our appreciation with verbal praise and gratitude every chance possible. |

Lodging We will again be staying at The Edge Hotel (3952 NY-12, Lyons Falls, NY 13368 Phone 866-348-4211). I have upped the number of rooms set aside in the room block to 40 rooms total. A majority of these are double occupancy rooms (two double beds), as this is a majority of the rooms available in the facility. If you intend on attending the meet, I recommend you call and make your reservations early. The hotel agreed to honor the special group rate once again this year at $99/night. Some other important items you should be aware of: The room block expires on December 31st, 2019. If there are rooms still available in the block on this date, they will be turned over to general reservations and opened up to the general public. You may still be able to get a room after this date, but it will depend upon general public reservations. Remember snowmobiling season is their peak season. There is a two night minimum stay policy. A 48 hour notice is required for cancellations or else your deposit is forfeited. Any questions may be directed to the hotel staff. Banquet For those registered to attend the banquet, we will begin with hors doeuvres at 6:30 pm and a 7 pm dinner. Please plan to be at the Boondocks Restaurant by this time. The banquet room is in the rear of the facility. Auction We would like to try something new this year at the banquet as a fundraiser to keep our club solvent and help ensure future snowmobile meets. We can have a whole lot of fun after dinner with a chinese auction. I would ask and encourage you to consider bringing an item as a donation to put in the auction. It can be Model T Ford related, but I would encourage you to bring anything else you think someone might be interested in winning. This way we ensure we capture the interest of all in attendance. The rules are very simple and it will be a very affordable way in which to raise funds for our club. |

Board of
Directors Meeting Our annual Board of Directors meeting will be held Friday January 31, 2020 at 5 pm. We will meet on the 2nd floor of the Trackside Blazers Clubhouse. Trailer Parking There will be trailer parking available just past the Trackside Blazers clubhouse grounds. The clubhouse will be on the left of Horton Rd. as you drive in off of NYS Rt. 28. PLEASE do not attempt to turn left into the Trackside Blazers driveway. The club grounds are needed for snowmobile exhibition area and will be too congested if trying to fit trucks and trailers in there, too. Continue past the clubhouse driveway and within a ¼ mile you will see a parking lot on the right hand side. Our A-frame signs w/red arrows will be set up on the shoulder of the road for guidance. There is ample room for trucks/trailers in this lot. Please park intelligently with the thought of loading/unloading of your machine, of those immediately adjacent to you as well as maximizing the use of the space we have available. Be aware that the Trackside Blazers will be grooming a path for us around the perimeter of this lot so that we can ride and not have to back up to turn around. Park with this in mind so as to not block this path. This parking lot is located immediately adjacent to the main snowmobile trail corridor which will serve as our trailway between the lot and the clubhouse grounds. It will be apparent when you get there and see the snowmobile trail. Areas to Ride There is a moderate area for us to ride around the clubhouse grounds. You will see the clubhouse is located immediately adjacent a major snowmobile trail corridor. It is this trail that will get you to/from the parking area discussed above. You are free to ride between the clubhouse grounds and the parking lot area with no restrictions. For those who attended last year, youll probably recall the fact that the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (the governing Agency of snowmobile recreation and the state trail system) decided to go against their initial word and would not allow the issuance of a special use permit, which would have enabled us to legally ride the state trail system. As a favor to us this year, the Trackside Blazers are attempting to cut some new trails on their property and neighboring properties so that we have additional places to ride. As of the date of this writing, they are hard at work preparing for the 2019/2020 snowmobile season (which is a monumental amount of work, as you can imagine), and will put a good faith effort into cutting and preparing these additional trails for us. we have our fingers crossed that they are able to find the time to do this for us and offer a chance for all of you to ride your machines some more! |

If we can answer any questions at all, please do not hesitate to call/email/text Greg Stewart at 518-424-7086 or stew0620@gmail.com (thats zero six two zero). The goal is for us all to have a fun and safe weekend enjoying these machines that we love so much, educating the public and catching up with like-minded friends. |

January 18, 2020 Hill Members Ride Start
__________________________________________________
Temperatures were in the single digits at 10AM in the Profile Falls parking lot for the start of the Hill, NH Members ride. In spite of the temperature, the lack of wind made the long ride fairly comfortable. The trails were in excellent shape and virtually deserted with only a couple of dog walkers being seen. A representative of the New Hampshire Fish & Wildlife OHRV (Off Highway Recreational Vehicles) Department stopped by while we were on our lunch break.

The
ride was mostly uneventful except for traversing a very deep gully with a stream at the
bottom. Note that all of the Snowmobiles successfully made the traverse. We turned around at the Franklin dam and headed back to our lunch stop, A grille was set up and hot dogs and hamburgers were ready in short order. |
